What are Affirmations?
Affirmations are short, direct sentences which speak into the reality and life that each of us is seeking to create. They provide a gateway for us to begin allowing these statements to ring true to ourselves at the subconscious level, such that our daily habits, thoughts, emotions, and feelings begin to reflect them with ease. They are a way for us to begin breaking our old ways of speaking down to ourselves and building a new internal dialogue that empowers us instead.
Affirmations are not for everyone, however. Studies have shown that individuals struggling with an intensely negative self-image may not benefit from this practice for the reason that they may not be able to genuinely envision themselves in the positive ways that Affirmations encourage, thus leaving them feeling even more discouraged than when they began.
For this reason, I would suggest that anyone who regularly experiences extremely negative internal self-talk to not use Affirmations at this time, but rather consider seeking the support of a trusted mental health counselor who can personally guide them toward more self-loving thoughts before pursuing this practice.
What can you expect from practicing the use of Daily Affirmations?
Those who have participated in the use of Daily Affirmations have reported a greater sense of well-being, a more stable and pleasurable emotional landscape, acceptance of self and others, and a heightened sense that life is a profoundly beautiful experience.
And by way of embracing these new ways of Being, these individuals have been able to manifest tangible results in their lives such as achieving life-long dreams and goals, deepening meaningful relationships, growing their abundance in all realms including financially, and successfully leading themselves down the path of life that they have always wanted for themselves.
How do you practice the use of Affirmations?
You will want to begin creating a habit. It shouldn’t take very long, maybe five minutes each morning. You’ll read the Affirmations sent to you, out loud to yourself if possible. You’ll allow each word to come into your mind with its full meaning and intention. You’ll allow yourself to feel each statement as its said, repeating it until it really resonates within you.
After a few days, you’ll begin to notice that some Affirmations hit you right to the core, touch on your personal vision, and really lift you into your greatness, while others may not be as important. If you’d like, start keeping a list of the ones that really resonate with you. Write them down, tuck them into your wallet or purse, print them out and put them on your mirror- whatever supports you in keeping these ideas at the forefront of your mind.
Throughout your day, repeat your Affirmations as you see fit. Allow them to redirect you when you find yourself going off track. Edit your list as you move forward and begin to notice the progress you’re making. Once an Affirmation really sinks in, you’ll notice how you begin to automatically operate from that new state, so perhaps you now have room for an Affirmation that addresses another area of your life that you think could use the support.
Remember, it’s all about you and what works for you. Feel free to be creative- turn your most meaningful Affirmations into a poem, a song, or a piece of artwork… There are no limits…
